Welcome to Part 4 of our project aiming to find the best companies from each country.

This week: Canada

Canada has a highly developed, resource-rich economy. Key sectors include natural resources (oil, gas, minerals, and forestry), manufacturing (automobiles, aerospace, and technology) and services (finance, healthcare, and tourism). Canada is a leading exporter of energy, minerals and industrial goods, with the U.S. its largest trading partner, followed by China, the EU and Mexico.

The Toronto Stock Exchange has over 3,400 public listings.

Canadian companies I already follow

Before I started this analysis, I should note that I already own shares in Constellation Software (one of the highest quality compounders I've ever come across). The only Canadian companies that I follow with interest are:

• Descartes Systems - logistics software and supply chain management software
• Lumine - a spin-out from Constellation
• Namsys - cloud-based cash processing and logistics software
