Brief history
Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) is an analytics company that provides financial indices to investors.
- In 1968, Capital International published indices covering the global stock market.
- In 1986, Morgan Stanley purchased the rights to Capital International's indices and branded them as MSCI.
- In 1986, MSCI launched the MSCI World Index.
- In 2007, MSCI had their initial public offering (IPO) and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
- In 2009, MSCI becomes a fully independent, stand-alone public company from Morgan Stanley.
